TOEFL Integrated Writing — template

Integrated Writing is a paraphrase-and-contrast task. The reading raises three claims; the lecture contradicts each. Your job is to report — accurately and concisely.

TOEFL

Four-paragraph structure

  1. Intro (40–60 words): name the topic; state that the lecturer disputes the reading's three claims.
  2. Body 1: reading claim 1 (paraphrase) → lecturer's counter (with detail).
  3. Body 2: reading claim 2 → lecturer's counter.
  4. Body 3: reading claim 3 → lecturer's counter.

Paraphrase phrases (do not copy the reading!)

Common mistakes that drop your score

  • Copying long phrases from the reading instead of paraphrasing.

  • Going under 150 words or over 280 words.
