Student: Hi, I was told to come to the library desk. I need help with a reserve textbook. Staff: Sure, have a seat. What seems to be the issue? Student: The main issue is a short loan period. I thought I had fixed it online, but the system still shows the old information. Staff: That happens sometimes when the record is waiting for manual approval. Let me check your account. Student: Thanks. I was worried because I do not want this to affect my classes next week. Staff: I see the issue. You need to come back Monday morning, and you should bring your course number. Without that, I cannot finalise the change. Student: Okay, Monday morning, with my course number. Is there anything I can do today? Staff: Yes. I can add a note to your file and give you the details about the digital chapter scan. That will protect your place while the paperwork is being reviewed. Student: That's a relief. Do I need to email my professor or advisor as well? Staff: I would recommend it. Keep the message short: explain that the office is processing the change and that you have a follow-up appointment. Student: If I bring the document at the time you mentioned, will the change happen the same day, or should I expect another delay? Staff: Usually it is updated within one business day. The important thing is that your file shows you came in before the deadline, so you will not be penalised for the processing time. Student: Do I need to print anything, or can I show the document on my phone? Staff: A digital copy is fine as long as the name and date are clear. We have a scanner at the desk, so we can attach it to your record immediately. Student: That's good. Is there any fee for making the change? Staff: No regular fee. A fee only applies if the request creates a replacement card or a new permit, and that does not seem to be the case here. Student: Should I keep checking the online system, or will someone contact me when it is done? Staff: You will receive an email when the record changes. I would still check the system the next morning, just to make sure everything displays correctly. Student: Great, I'll do that this afternoon. Thanks for explaining it. Staff: No problem. Bring the document on time, and the rest should be straightforward.
